What a beautiful spring break week here in Corrales!

Many of our employees deserve a shout out. Lynn Siverts, Head of Public Works and Parks & Recreation, along with his tireless staff, offered a terrific camp experience for young people. Police Officers Linda Milane and Amanda Garcia received Commendations after they responded to a concerned relative’s call and rescued a woman who had fallen and unable to move for two days. The Officers’ efforts likely saved her life. Fire Chief Martinez and his department also deserve praise for their work in responding to the Bistro fire last week. Thanks to all of you for your efforts on our community’s behalf. And I know the community is pulling for Fritz Allen as he repairs his restaurant.

If you stop by the Village Offices, you will notice some changes. As of last Friday, Suanne Derr took on the job of Village Administrator and Shannon Fresquez became our Village Clerk. Along with the rest of the staff, we are working together to build a positive and friendly team as we go forward. Welcome, Suanne and Shannon!

On the volunteer side, there are a number of openings on various Village Boards and Commissions, including the Library Board, Planning and Zoning Commission, the Bosque Commission and Farmland Preservation. If you are interested in serving on any of these board, please let us know. Drop by the Village Office to pick up an application.

Last but not least, don’t forget the egg hunt in La Entrada Park on Saturday morning at 10am. I believe the Kiwanis elves (I may be mixing up my holidays here) have been busy putting together some great treats for the little ones to find. Hope to see you there! And, if not, please have a beautiful weekend.
