FROM the MAYOR
It has been a busy time for me. I have been settling into the office, working with employees, attending meetings and presiding over administrative appeals. I’ve even gotten to go on a couple of field trips (ok, facility tours) with Public Works Head Lynn Siverts and with Fire Chief Anthony Martinez. Please come by and see me during my Office Hours on Thursday mornings.
I am planning more ways to communicate with you – maybe meet up for coffee around the Village? Speaking of which, I had my first cup of coffee at the newly opened Perk Ranger, located at 4436 Corrales Road. Go by and say hello to Starla and her adorable baby – 7am to 2 pm, Monday through Friday. While you are there, drop by and see Laura Balombini’s art and clothes at Red Paint Studio.
Of course you have noticed traffic delays on Corrales Road. Please be kind to the workers as you drive by, because the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) is helping us to improve the road. They are working on our biggest pot holes, and instead of just patching them up, they are actually “milling and filling,” which is a much better and longer lasting option. We can look forward to fewer bumps in the future!
We are now on Spring Break and here’s a great way to help the library at Corrales Elementary. When you buy a book at Barnes & Noble, a substantial portion of the purchase price will go towards helping out the library at Corrales Elementary. And let’s not forget the Easter Egg Hunt – this Saturday at La Entrada Park at 10. I’ll be there with a bullhorn, and so will the bunny (and maybe Wile E. Coyote?).
Hope to see you there. Jo Anne Roake, Mayor
