Corrales is Open for Business

Do you want to start a business in Corrales? Please begin the process by following the steps below.

1) Obtain a tax ID number from the New Mexico Department of Taxation and Revenue: https://tap.state.nm.us/TAP/_/#1 The location code for Corrales is 29-504 (otherwise the GRT taxes you pay, might be going elsewhere).

2) Will you be doing business in your home or a residential area? If so, you will need to apply for a Home Occupation Permit. (Village Code Section 18-45 (c)). Depending on the type of business, you may need to go before the Planning and Zoning Commission for approval. You can contact our Planning and Zoning Administrator, Laurie Stout at lstout [at] corrales-nm.org (subject: Home%20Occupation%20Permit) for more information. This is a one time fee. The application can be downloaded below. If you are renting out your home as a short-term rental, you will need to fill out that application and go before the Planning and Zoning Commission for approval (Village Code Section 18-45-(f)).

3) If you are not doing business in your home, more than likely, you will need a commercial site development plan, and will need to contact P&Z for more information.  If you have already received your Home Occupation Permit, and already have a fire inspection, you will need to apply for a Corrales Business License. This is an annual fee of $35.00 due before you begin doing business in the Village. Business licenses will not be approved until the business has either an approved fire inspection, or confirmation from the fire department that an inspection is not needed.  The Business License Registration form can be downloaded below. **Please note, businesses located in the commercial corridor may need to comply with Village code section 18-30 (g), water and wastewater requirement regarding compliance with applicable regulations established by the New Mexico Environment Department and State Engineer's Office concerning water and wastewater facilities and systems.

4) Contact the Corrales Fire Department to determine if your business requires a fire inspection. Call 505-898-7501 to schedule an inspection.

If you have questions not answered here, you can email Village Clerk, Melanie Romero, at mromero [at] corrales-nm.org or Planning and Zoning Administrator, Laurie Stout, at lstout [at] corrales-nm.org.
