The shooting incident on Los Arboles Verde RD which prompted the shelter-in-place advisement on Mon. 01/22 resulted in the tragic death of a 29-year-old Albuquerque woman. The suspect has been identified as 55-year-old Charles “Chuck” Kauffmann (photo at left), who had fled in a black Kia Sedan which has since been recovered. A warrant has been issued for Kauffmann’s arrest on charges of Murder (Open Count), Aggravated Assault With a Deadly Weapon and Tampering With Evidence. Local, State and Federal law enforcement officials throughout New Mexico and Arizona are searching for Kauffmann. Anyone with information concerning Kauffmann’s whereabouts is asked to call Corrales Police at

505-891-7226. Kauffmann should be considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached by members of the public.

 

On Wed. 01/24 a police report was filed concerning multiple propane tanks being stolen from outside of a business on the 3700 block of Corrales RD at about 2:30 that morning by two male subjects in a red sedan.

 

Just before 5:00PM on Sun. 01/28 a reckless driver who had fled from Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Deputies was apprehended by BCSO and CPD on Via Faisan. The 34-year-old Corrales man was booked into MDC on charges of Aggravated Fleeing Law Enforcement Officers, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Driving While License Revoked, Resisting Evading or Obstructing Officers, Tampering With Evidence, Expired Registration, No Insurance and Aggravated Assault Upon Peace Officers.
