--On Mon. 02/26 a resident reported an attempted unemployment fraud via the unauthorized use of his information. Stay vigilant about safeguarding your personal and financial data both on paper and online. More information about unemployment fraud can be found at this link: https://www.dws.state.nm.us/IdentityTheft

--On Thu. 02/29 a citizen advised police that she responded to a pop-up message on her computer, was led to believe that she was the subject of a federal investigation and was given instructions to transfer money. The resident realized that she was being scammed prior to sending any funds. In most cases it is not a good idea to click on or respond to pop-ups. Please take a few moments to review the internet crime information on the FBI website and caution your more vulnerable relatives, friends and neighbors about these types of scams. https://www.fbi.gov/how-we-can-help-you/scams-and-safety/on-the-internet
