Our Corrales Community Seed Library opened on February 8th, 2022 thanks to the funding from our FOCL group, community donations, and volunteer contributions.
What is a seed library? It is a new collection in our library that will contain seeds that will be available to our patrons. The benefits of a seed lending library are many. It is a way to build community with fellow gardeners and support people who are new to the world of gardening. It also preserves rare, heirloom, or open-pollinated seeds and encourages our community to save quality seeds that are suitable for our growing area. Through the time-honored tradition of seed saving, we nurture locally adapted plant varieties and foster community resilience, self-reliance, and a culture of sharing.
Up to 15 seed packets may be borrowed from the seed library during a calendar year. To ensure as many people as possible can enjoy seeds from the Corrales Community Seed Library, we are limiting check-outs to 1 packet per variety. Fill out the Seed Borrowing Log with today's date, types of seeds taken, and the number of packets. Take the seed packets to the desk to have them scanned for check-out.
At the end of the growing season, borrowers may save seeds from their harvest, label them and return a portion of the seeds to the library during our hours of operation.
The Corrales Community Seed Library is currently accepting donations for locally-adapted, non-hybrid, heirloom, rare, or open-pollinated seeds. If you are unable to save your own seed, please consider donating a packet or two of fresh, open-pollinated seeds to help keep our program self-sustaining and ongoing for years to come.

Gardening with the Masters Online is back on Zoom on the 4th Friday of each month at 10 am.
Presentations will be short, 15 – 30 minutes maximum, followed by questions and answers and important contributions from various master gardeners and the public participating in the call. We want to make these programs as participatory as possible and to reflect the various approaches to gardening in Sandoval County. Participants are welcome to submit questions on topics prior to the talk as well as during the discussion period.
